Last night he had a huge asthma attack. He'd been having them over the last couple of days but last night was really bad. Yesterday we started fluids and he absorbed the 100ml within minutes. We did fluids again this morning before going to the vet. This morning he got a antinausea shot, a steroid shot for the asthma and an appetite stimulant pill ( Read more... )

You may need to up his fluids to 150ml a day if he is going through them so quickly. It might help to split them up as well. Give half in the morning and half in the evening. It will last a bit longer in his system that way.

Poor guy! He's in my thoughts. I know I am a long drive away, but if the hubs needs some kind of help, give him my number and tell him to call me. I know a thing or two about giving fluids, meds and such. ;)

For the next couple of days we're doing 100 mls twice daily. I am going to call the vet with an update on Wednesday before I go. I will definitely give him that tidbit though! It's always good to have someone to call for advice! He's pilled the cat before and we have a mortar and pestle if he is unsuccessful in pilling. He's good about taking stuff in food.

According to Lauran he finished the can we put down last night after the vet today, and then I had him put down about 1/4 a can of the appetite diet and he finished that. If things stay good I think we will be okay. Poor buddy. :< Luckily we live just around the corner from the vet! Literally!
