A gentleman should show a lady a good time, but a man showed a woman an even greater one. May I borrow that line without crediting you immediately? : D

Brilliant narrative style from the start. This is wonderful. I have got to come back and read it again.

Then why even ask if you're not going to credit me?

Thanks for the read.

It just seemed like something perfect to say in bed as he decides to roll over and go to sleep. Citing the author would come over coffee, later. What do you think?

This is a hard style to maintain; you make it seem natural as breathing. When I read the first paragraph, I heard it in William Holden's voice, then Bogey's, then Harrison Ford's. This is one of my favourite styles. I don't know if gritty and/or noire are done much anymore.... Dr. Who! Who'd have thunk? You and mcinstry have made me very happy.

I just want to make sure you know I would never cop another writer's words. I only meant if the situation came up in rl, to say to my partner to get to the next round faster. Or I could just start with, 'as ladyriona says...'

At any rate, this is a cool style, and now it makes me think of a jazz dance I saw the other night... same period, same sassiness. She was wearing a red silk dress and red heels.
