It's sunny and nice

and I can hardly wait to get outside. I picked up 10 geraniums and need to get those planted in my window boxes. Wished my boxes got a bit more direct sunlight, but what can ya do? Got all primary red ones, so they will look great planted in a big mass ( Read more... )

40 percent wow how does one manage that? Double coupons with sale items? For some reason here in Chicago they won't double coupons... sigh.

They don't double coupons in Washington either. I get so jealous when I hear about that. =)
Anyway, the theory is to shop the sales. You only buy the things that you use on a regular basis, but you stock up when it goes on sale. So when toothpaste is $1.00 a tube, you buy 3, instead of waiting until you're out and then you have to pay full price for one because you need it right now. The way she terms it, you're stockpiling all your basics at the best possible price.
I signed up for a trial membership at the website www.thegrocerygame.com. So far it's pretty helpful. Give it a look and tell me if you do it. I'd be curious to hear from someone else that's trying it.

So was I. It seems like it's working. But then I've only done it for 2 weeks. I think this is how my mom used to shop when we were kids. I remember her showing is the grocery store fliers and us picking out what we would have for dinner based on the sale that week.
