Naive? NO. I don't think so at all. I'm proud of him for seeking help and offering to try and make things right between you two. It makes you a good person to refuse. :)

You're implying that anyone who suffered "monetary damages" from someone like him, or was just taken for free room and board, would be an asshole for asking for some of it back when he's back on his feet and can afford it. I don't agree with that at all; I think it's perfectly fair and understandable, and I think most would agree with me. That being said, it was nice of you to write it off.

I'd say give him my info in case he needs help coming up here, but I don't want to be stricken by the Kris-nado. Let me know when he's been clean for 90+ days, if that happens.
