[A moment of silence before Grace starts to speak. She sounds more like she's talking to herself rather than trying to convey a message.]

Someone said... what was it... "monsters as people walk among you." And...and I've been thinking about it since then.

I mean, what makes a monster? How can you tell... when they don't have claws or sharp teeth or ( Read more... )

It's someone intentions and actions that can make them a monster. Figuratively speaking.

But what if you do something bad but you had good intentions? Or.. if you didn't know what you were doing..?

It's perception. They may not perceive it being monsterous. Doesn't mean that it isn't.

So the only thing that matters is what you do...and if others think it's a bad thing. Hmn.

Thank you.

It is potential. No one is born a monster or a saint, but through the choices one makes in life, a person can become one or the other.

Hm...

Some of the others said that something similar. That we're all monsters, or.. more like we have a monster in us. Maybe it's like... we can all become one, but we have to do bad things for the wrong reasons?

I think that it is more the potential to become one that we each have. There is darkness in each heart, just as there is light. One chooses to allow one or the other to rule, and that would appear to define us as 'good' or 'bad'.

I think that, in order for one to become a true monster, one must stop caring.

Yes... that makes sense. How else could I-

Thank you, this really helped.

When ambition consumes you, no matter the original intention. Hurting other people, possibly even killing them -- I don't imagine these matters can even be justified.

However, monsters can also become people again.

So... hurting and killing, that's where the line goes? Someone else said that intentions only go so far, after a while it's inexcusable no matter what you wanted from the start.

...if you defeat your inner monster...is that right?

I agree with that, as well.

Indeed. I have had to do the same. It's not always easy to recover what works you have done as a monster, but I believe we can always get back on the right path.

You need to defeat it, then? You can't just... lock it away?

I don't think that it's always possible for a person to be able to say 'that person is a monster'. Some people can hide the fact that they're a monster, even though they are one.

As for what makes a person a monster, I think it's hurting others - people who don't deserve to be hurt - for no reason, or no reason other than their needs or wants.

That's what many of the others have said too, that it's what you do that counts in the end.

Thank you.
