Yes, it is - Mr. Duffield reminds us that every feeling, be it positive or unpleasant, is part of one bigger, more important thing : being alive :)

OMG
it's great but i see nothing hopeful in it... i just percieve it as depressing as it can be. and scary...

Personally, I think it has hope in it because this angel-like boy is so determined to stand any pain to be a living and feeling creature. For him, all the unpleasant things in life belong to a greater good, being of flesh and blood, being able to explore happyness and any other positive things, too. I think it is almost philosophical because all the pain and fear are necessary as a complementary element for love and happyness. Without them, we could not adequately appreciate the value of these positive feelings.

he wants the feeling of touch, hm, and he's aware of the fact that not every sensation is going to be pleasant but instead of giving him both or at least a choice the man in the end takes the knife and leaves us in the wondering of what he's going to do with that knife. It strikes me as depressing, making me asume he's going to hurt the boy and make him regret.
anyway, i guess it depends on each person's character, i am not that sure "beain alive" is a greater good and that's why it's not hopeful for me that someone is willing to suffer for it.
and another thing bothers me: if he can't feel how can he feel the want then? why does he want? where did the want to be alive come from?

anyway - it's nevertheless great work, it made me stop and thing about those things ;)

Yes, there are a lot of questions left after this video but this is also a thing I like about it. I like things you do not forget instantly but have to think more closely about. And I still think there is hope because for the boy the pain he might have to endure is worth to change the emptiness of his dull being. It is transition into a new life, just like the birth is painful for a mother to give life to her child.

But I agree that the creator of this animation left us room for the most different interpretations of his little story :)

It was the first thing that hit me. I'll have to look on my copy of the wall and see who did the animation. :) He is quite talented! :)
