Exercise Log: Week 4

Mar 02, 2009 12:00

It's been a month that i've been working out regularly (plus a few more weeks "unofficially). I feel (and, at least from my perspective, look) sooo much better...although I'm not sure if there's any real improvement in my "stats" yet (i.e. BMI, weight, etc). Need to check the initial charts with my P.T. this week.

I hope you are wearing a bathing cap when swimming because all that chlorine will ruin your nice hair and I don't want that to happen since you have awesome hair.

actually, i've NEVER worn swimcaps (mostly because i absolutely hate the them). Luckily there's a saltwater pool at my gym, which is a million times less harsh on hair and skin than chlorine. i actually come out of the pool with my skin, hair and eyes feeling GOOD :)

Very cool! I think even salt water swimming would be bad for my skin. As I age it gets more and more sensitive. Like my new sensitivity to an ingredient in toothpaste. So annoying.

BMI is not a good measure of anything, since it doesn't take bodyfat into account. According to BMI, I'm borderline obese :) Did they take caliper measurements or do hydrostatic weighing?

Yeah. I really don't take where I'm supposed to be as far as what the BMI and weight charts say too seriously, especially since BMI readings are, indeed, not always accurate and what a person "should" weigh varies sooo depending on their frame/bone structure, etc. She did take caliper and body measurements (and made some other other charts that i'm not entirely sure of...I still have to get a copy of all those numbers so I can keep track myself). I'm definitely taking the latter measurements into account more than the others, as well as paying more attention to how my clothing fits (which is hardly scientific but is MY best weigh of measuring how I look...or, at the very least, would like to look ;)

Nice, sounds like they have you on the right track with the measurements.

But yes, all the data is secondary to whether the program makes one look better nekkid. The mirror tends to be the best judge of that one :)
