I knew the answer to this one and I've forgotten some of it but it does have to do with gravity and the height/distance it falls from, so basically, unless we get dining tables/counters that are higher than normal it will always happen...yeah not much help, but it's the only part I remember...

I don't know the true answer to number one, but someone has used this fact and combined it with a cat's ability to land on its feet to create anti-gravity. See icon. :D
