Writer's Block: Environmental Confession

I drive a mini-van. It's the only thing that can haul 5 people and 5 sets of golf clubs (or five Brownies and two leaders) comfortably.

I also drive a mini-van, but... I have learned to glide to stops, and to make slower starts when moving forward. Jack-rabbit starts waste gas, and I've actually increased my gas mileage since doing that, among other things.

Those little tricks really do make a difference too. I always take my foot off the gas when going downhill.

Yes, but in the end, you're helping IMO. Instead of 3 different people driving everything, they're all getting into ONE vehicle.

I use plastic bags. And I don't recycle. *hangs head*

I have to bag as I check groceries - and those "cloth" reusable bags are, for the most part, a pain. It's easier nine-tenths of the time to just use the plasic bags that are in front of me.

I do my own bagging, especially since I always get the new kid who thinks it's OK to put canned goods on top of the eggs and/or bread.

*grins* I have a few people who like doing their own. I turn on the side belt, and let them do it. The only complaint I've gotten is that I check faster than they can pack.

Other stores here (Safeways, Albertsons) do seem to have baggers for the larger orders.

So do I. But I get 23 mpgs which really isn't THAT terrible (if not that good...)

My environmental sin? I get so tired of pulling weeds around the driveway that I end up using Weed Killer. And when I am in a hurry and don't want to deal with dishes we use paper plates.

I found this at the SH Forums, and thought you'd like to know about it, esp. with the deadline being so close ( ... )
