My dogs stop traffic. I visit The Night Circus.

What a day. It's been awhile since I've written anything. Ennui, away from me!

Mostly, I chose today because I'm vain. Well, about my dogs.

The new puppy, Delorean. 2 months old in 2 days. Yes, he's a Jedi Puppy. I call him Lorien because it's shorter and a Lord of the Rings reference. Also, because it saddens me when people look at me blankly when I tell them it's Delorean. It makes me long for a Rodney McKay style rant about the stupidity of That movie.

And here are a couple of Kimiko and Lorien together. Try not to melt from the cute.

Yes, I know. Devestatingly adorable.

Well, my mom called close to 3 p.m. and asked me out to lunch. (The Thai place close by) and said to bring Lorien so she could take care of him for the day. I wasn't about to say no. One less canine means less mess for me. Especially since it's the one that isn't housetrained.

Anyway, I get my stuff together, put Lorien in the back seat and am on my way.

When I get there, I leave Lorien in the car (10 feet away from the entrance) so I can move my Mom to the outside seating. By the time I take Lorien out, the group next to us is chatting about the dog. Asking me how old he is, what breed, etc. Lorien, like all huskies, is a shameless attention-seeking, people-lover. So while I'm trying to eat, he's meandering about ending up at the other table's feet.

We're leaving and one of the ladies at the other table starts calling Lorien. You know, the nonsense noises that people make to get the attention of dogs. (I do it too and wonder whether every canine on Earth thinks we're morons.) Lorien hops on over, plonks his butts down and allows himself to be petted. I leave it be for a couple seconds, then call Lorien to follow (which he does) and up he goes with my mom.

I get home and poor Kimi is anxious as soon as I let her in. Scratching at the front door, looking through the window, whining, etc. I grab all the stuff I need and get her leashed for her walk.

I usually go with her out back before noon and play a crappy game of tag, which consists of her running crazy, fast circles around the yard and me pretending to chase her. It tires her out and she naps when we go inside.

That's why walks are slow going, but longer. Plus, she needs consistent time on leash so she'll learn not to pull, jump, etc.

So we start off. On our 7th block or so, we pass by a yard with a handful of kids. Grade-school children will usually stop me to ask about my dog (What's her name? Does she bite? Can I pet her?) and they did. I warned them that she likes to jump on people, but they still wanted to pet her so I grabbed her collar and let them. That got a lot of comments. (She's so soft! And warm! She licked me!) We continued on. 2 blocks after that, a car drove by with the windows down. "Stop the car!" I heard. I've gotten a couple of these. People who will stop their car when they see my dog. And usually it's because of a singular reason. They don't just want to tell me that my dog is pretty. They want one.

Guy: Oh my god. Where did you get your dog bred? I've been looking everywhere for a full-breed husky.
Me: Well, it's not my dog so I don't know. Sorry.
Guy: Oh, thanks. Is she a full-bred husky?
Me: No. Sorry.*continues walking*

On previous occasions there was a girl who stopped and asked how much I'd paid for the dog and before her, a couple who stopped to gush over how pretty Kimi was and what her breed was.

A block after this guy, I came across 3 teen boys (about 14?) who were on the sidewalk. They asked if they could pet her and I let them, since Kimi was still acting well-behaved.

Right now she's sleeping on the couch after having some time out outside.

Onto another matter that's been occupying me since yesterday. Sucked into a narrative game. XD So me. It's based on a book, "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. I'm hooked. It appeals to the geeky, fantasy loving, magpie in me. Look it what I've gathered so far:

Well, that was yesterday and I've got some more stuff today. :D Another thing I like about this is that there's nothing to buy. There's a buy section and it only links to place to buy the book. Everyone player is equal. And there's no "network" of players that you're pitted against. It's a personal game. If anyone is interested, check it out through this link and I get some rank help if you set up an account for yourself: http://www.nightcircus.co.uk/profile/ladyyueh Just click "enter The Night Circus" if you want to.
