Not an easy question to answer Tim. Children are all different in development, and sleep through the night (or at least 6 hrs straight) at different times. I think it's usually around six months that this starts, earlier for some, later for others. She could be going through a growth spurt, but I think you'll find as she grows, the amount of times she wakes up will decrease.
With Brianna, she slept through the night as young as 4 months (I think). Evan, we are still working on, but he is down to about 1 or 2 times waking up.
thanks jason :) she was doing great and then started going back to every 2ish hours the last couple days. I thought growth spurts were only a couple of days? maybe she'll sleep tonight *prays* lol Kaitlyn slept 6-8 hour stretches at 2 weeks so this is all new to me
I agree with bosox. Briar was up a lot during the nights for the first two months. I didn't lose too much sleep though, because Briar co-sleeps with us, and that makes it a lot easier when it comes to midnight nursing sessions
( ... )
maybe it is a growth spurt, i thought that was just for a couple days at around 6 weeks? man i don't remember with kait at all lol. usually shes pretty good for 4-5 hour stretches, she sleeps in a cradle right beside the bed so its not much to get her. we also have the swing in our room if she has trouble getting backt o sleep (have i ever mentioned how much i love that swing..that is the single best thing anyone ever got us :P) she is nursing more so maybe that is it
kait slept through the night at 2 weeks 6-8 hour stretches
and 4 months holy heck lol i' starting to feel old, time is going by way too fast
Growth spurts are usually on time but I do know that sometimes they can vary between children too. It's possible she's taking a growth spurt, but you never know .. maybe she's really gassy or having troubles having bowel movements?? ...
I'm in denial that Briar-Rose is almost 4 months old. It's insane.
she is gassy, i *still* need to get something for that i'm a sucky mom :P i'm going tomorrow finally if i don't forget again, i onlty remember when i need it, and i only need it when the stores are closed bah
awww lol she's been great almost since birth shes gotten up 1-2 times a night usually around 3 am and then at 7. now shes all over the place and getting up tons. it just recently though. I think maybe it is a growth spurt i never thought about it before in my comatose state :P
My kids were at least 3-4 months when I'd get an occasional stretch of 6 hours. Not regularly until well after 6 months.
Breastfeeding DOES make a difference, because they digest it easier, and thus, faster than formula.
If things are getting really bad and Bri is staying home, you might want to go sleep somewhere else for a few nights. Since Mark had to get up for work every morning and he couldn't nurse our babies, I had him sleep upstairs. Is there a space on the floor in Kaitlyn's room you can toss an airmattress or is your couch sleepable?
Tim works evenings right now so its no big deal for him, and seriously without the little bit of help he's been giving me (he'll go change her if she needs it then bring her to me) i'd be a complete zombie some days. its partially our fault because shes usually been sleeping for 3 hours when we decided to go to bed, i mean we should just get our butts in bed earlier :P

Hope all that helps.
