I really need to update this thing more often. Though there's not much to say that's actually important.

New year of law school will start next Monday alkjdf Finally I have all my main textbooks as well as all of the first day assignments. I've been waiting for the assignments for a while because I want to try and get a head start on them. So now ( Read more... )

I haven't started ADWD either, even though it's sitting on my shelf. I like the books, and I reeeeally need to read more, but because of the nature of them-even though I read really quicklu-it took me like the entire school year to finish what was out because I just wasn't willing to plow through them, idk.

As for your opinions on shipping, it sort of... pisses me off that guys can't be friends or rivals any longer. I mean, I'll crack ship stuff, but even then it's only if it makes sense in my head. The majority of popular fan yaoi pairings I just don't understand-like I'm with you on Shizuo/Izaya, and I've found I'm like the only Harry Potter fan who doesn't ship Sirius and Remus. And Tamaki/Kyouya just makes me go "WHAT."

I always read them fast. It's just. Actually sitting down to do it. /read each book within 2-3 days.

But yeah the shipping thing...I'm not going to hound on anyone about it, but I'm also with you about the BFFs/Rivals MUST mean they got a boner for each other. I mean. Can't guys just be friends? Can't they just have that platonic buddy/buddy deal that...you know. Happens all the time in real life? I mean, okay, if the guy is already acting pretty feminine I could see how it could possibly go that way but yeah. Like I could never understand Lelouch and Suzaku from Code Geass. I always thought "But they're just best friends" and the usual response I got was "Exactly." and I'm like "...Okay..."

lmao it took me like more than a month to read each one because I'd do like ten chapters and then break. idk.

With me it's like... I mostly hate it for going against canon. If a solid argument can be made to support it, fine, but if a character is clearly shown to be straight or if it just contradicts the very nature of their relationship? It's like even with some het shipping I'm like they're just too good friends. Romance would almost ruin it or speak against their friendship. :| I don't... quite know how to describe it.

I mean, do I make a big deal when watching LotR about how Sam leaves his wife and kids to go be with Frodo on an island for the rest of his life and how they exchange loving glances? Sure. But I also think it would be totally bizarre if they actually had a romantic subplot-and again, going against the friendship thing. there's something really powerful about strong friendship that romance can't have.

idk, the biggest thing for me is that it just makes sense. which... often it doesn't.

Yeah that's pretty much my thing. If it makes sense, whoo! If it doesn't...then it's basically just forcing a ship for your own personal fantasies. Which people are going to do anyway, but lately, and especially with fandom, it can be kind of...well pushy? Mostly what gets me is that if you don't agree for some of the ships, you're kind of looked down upon.

At least, that's the vibe I usually get for the big ones. So I think that's also what bugs me most. This is for all ships across the sex spectrum, so not pointing at any particular type.
