Haven't seen or read Eagle of the Ninth but I have heard good things, also I heard and interview where Jamie Bell (who seems to have lost most of his Oop North accent) and Chaning Tatum (or how ever you spell his name) were hilarious together.

Um, the film is... I can't actually recommend it. Not wholeheartedly. It, how much you like it will depend on how much you enjoy the lovestory. (Which, I'm not talking about subtextual slash, I'm talking about "everything but kissing or onscreen sex", which is only vaguely annoying (because the film TOTALLY went there, so there may as well have been actual physicality).
On the other hand, there's gore and upsetting stuff and way more dialogue (and less wolves!) than in the book.
Oh oh oh, however, I totally recommend watching the film first and then reading the book after, because doing the reverse might destroy your soul with the grimdarkness.

Jamie Bell does seem to have been consistently good in everything he's been in. Even the films where he was the only vaguely competent person in them, Jumpers I am looking at you.
Everything is better with wolves. That is something that I feel is missing slightly from the show of GofT. Not enough direwolves!
