Why are pedophilia-hiding, child-abusing church fathers allowed to write laws about women's bodies?

Comedian Greg Fitzsimmons spoke on his podcast about going to a Catholic mass and the priest explained that he was married to the Church but that sometimes you could get angry with your spouse or even be ashamed of your spouse and that right now he still loved the Church but felt angry and ashamed about what they've done. He respected the guy for being able to face the controversy openly and be critical.
