I'm so glad you liked it! I agree- Arthur is the SADDEST. And I think that MZB does a good job of emphasizing his youth at the time of his coronation; a lot of versions of the legend seem to leave that out, but it makes him so much more sympathetic and interesting. And YES, Arthur/Morgaine is SOUL-CRUSHING. Thank you for the prompt- it was fun to play around in this fandom again!

I have some wonderful memories of The Mists of Avalon--Uther and Igraine, Viviane's plots, Arthur and Morgaine and this moment when the two of them meet at his kingmaking, which changes both their lives. Morgaine can never trust Viviane again, and there is Morgause, who is so ready and willing to take over...
