I know exactly what you mean, Emalyn. I am devastated over this too. :( I've cried probably three or four times now, it's insane. Last night I read this blog about how his daughter, Bindi Sue, was talking in a past interview about how he played Barbies with her and how she "loved her daddy very, very, very much" and it just breaks my heart. He seemed like a genuinely good guy, not just because of what he did for animals and reptiles, but just his zest for life and love of his family

If Bono died, I would be crushed for a very very very very long time. But I know what you mean about the whole zest for life thing.
I guess the most shocking thing of it all is that it actually happened. The man seemed invincible.

Yeah. Well, I mentioned Bono as a hypothetical comparison because he also does a lot of charitable work, though usually for people rather than animals. Of course for you it would be much worse than Steve Irwin, but it was for the sake of illustration. It's one of those things where.. I saw this mentioned somewhere else.. it becomes extra sad because the world lost a very nice, likable person. When someone that is "just famous" dies, it's sad and shocking but not as bad as if it was someone like Steve Irwin who seemed genuinely caring and friendly. It's like a bright flame being extinguished, and suddenly you realize it's just a little bit darker. :( That's pretty much how I have felt.

Actually, right now it isn't hitting me as hard as it has since I found out on Monday. I'm sure there will be moments, but right now it is more a sense of melancholy than a deep, wrenching sadness. For once I'm not in danger of crying,anyway. Heh.
