You'll have to have played Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar to truly understand this one... unlike other HM games, your spouse never goes to sleep, no matter how late you stay up. When someone pointed this out on the Ushi No Tane forums, this is what popped immediately into my head and wouldn't go away:
