So....was the long trek to O2 to see Ms Parton, worth postponing the viewing of Journey's End? Yes, actually.  I was impressed. Really. Hobbitdad was a MAJOR Dolly fan. My fondest memory is the year I got him tickets to see her play live for his birthday. I queued from the crack of dawn to ensure I got good seats - 3 rows back from the stage(because the front two involved tilting heads back at a scary angle), dead centre - and then put them in his card. I gave it to him and said "I'm sorry - I'm a bit skint this month and could only afford this..." Being hobbitdad, he instantly said it was no problem - the thought was what counted. Then he opened the envelope, went about twenty shades of red, gave me a quick hug and vanished into the bathroom for about twenty minutes. *grins ( ... )
