Heh. If I were feeling malicious, I would say my father spent years believing that evolution was wrong until we went to the Natural History museum in London and we took him through the focal record and pointed out the facts. He still took some convincing, but he got there in the end.
:p

But I'm not feeling malicious, so I'll say no, that has never happened... * whistles*

That is too funny.

I had a friend once who believed until adulthood that the chimney of the incinerator at the local hospital was actually a firemans training pole. We had to convince her that although fireman did actually need a lot of training, sliding down the pole was not part of that. Still, not on the same scale, but funny nonetheless.

My mother had many talents and good qualities... mithalwen September 2 2009, 15:51:28 UTC
but natural history wasn't one of them either (though she only had school cert biology (merit) rather than your Dad's high falutin qualifications.. believe me I feel so much better about this now... I remembereed this as I happened to go to one of her favourite places by a little lake the other day. Once we were there idly feeding the ducks when she asked me if ducks had teeth.... Seriously.... another time she reminisced about When Sixpence was a puppy... not so strange unless you know that 6D was the family cat... "Oh you KNOW what I mean...."

Mind you when I was little I had the idea that one of the grander hotels in the area was a cricket pavilion because it had a cricket pitch in front of it...
