Wahey! I've just this minute read that article and posted up about it and now I see you thought of me and posted too :D You know me well :D

Is anyone surprised Mark E does not like the Hobbit though? It's not really his 'thing' is it? Though he does write about scary goblin things...

I've been waiting for that book for MONTHS!

Is it not a bit narrow minded to identify English literature as Shakespeare and medieval poetry?

Lal - that is an amusing happenstance, for sure.

Rune..if Smith's entire English curriculum really was restricted to the Hobbit, then I can understand that he might have been peeved. But I think there's some exaggeration for effect going on....
It still bugs me that Tolkien didn't like Shakespeare. Shakespeare is almost like a religion to me...
