I have a secret to confess. I keep all the metal buttons they give you at the Met and bring them with me each time I go. I just put on whatever color it is that day and enter the galleries. I do this so I don't have to give the donation, even though I only give a dollar when I do.

i second ben's comment and would like to add that if you consider how many tourists enter that institution per day and contribute, there should be no worries for the met's financial situation...
