I've been reading through old entries, and it's so fun. I feel like I used to have more interesting things to say while I was in law school than I do now...and it's funny, because while I was in law school, I'd read old entries from college and think that in college I had more interesting things to say than while in law school. Is it just a "the ( Read more... )

Money makes loving and living so much easier because the actual mechanics of daily life come pre-packaged with 70% less stress when you're comfortable financially. But I suppose if it wasn't one stress it would be another. People seem to find things to fret over, so you'd probably end up tearing your hair out over your image, or global warming, or politics or something. LOL. But I've found that as long as you truly enjoy your life and the people you're sharing it with and you have food to eat and a place to live, stress (financial or otherwise) can always be managed.

I definitely agree that it makes it so much easier; I'm just pleased that I'm in a place where I don't think that it won't work unless there's money. Woot! Stress-management is so great.

I think also the recession has something to do with it, because as the economy gets worse, my feelings about my life get better. I've gone from, "Oh God, I have a shit job, no benefits, no investments, no future. Why am I such a failure???" to "Wow, I'm employed, I have an apartment with three nice roommates, and I can afford to buy produce at Whole Foods and get takeout once a week. My life is a success!" (Although you being able to buy a townhouse makes me feel slightly less successful.)

When I read that all I could think was "Ew, you shop at Whole Foods." LOL. But yeah, I've seen that reaction in a lot of people, and it makes sense; but it's really not affecting me in that way. While the economy itself hasn't always been bad, the entire time I've been in law school I've had to deal with a sort of mini-economic crisis in the legal field, so this massive nationwide economic crisis is old hat to me. Even when I had so much more than others had, in terms of an apartment I could afford and the ability to shop practically every day, and the job security, it still didn't matter, all I could see was what I didn't have.

I will approve if that is the only thing you buy there on a regular basis.
