While I may not be living your pain, I still feel it. I imagine I would be in the same state of mind were I living in my parents' house. Hair - ripped out, most def.
I think it is perfectly respectable to be cheap and picky about kitchen chairs. My spirit is with you as you float about garage sales. I'm a pretty big fan of estate sales as well.
