Complacency

Complacency abounds. Show me a country of any size that doesn't believe they deserve all that they have, that they couldn't possibly survive on any less and that any environmental damage, possibly only imagined, is caused by some external evil force. Probably how the dinosaurs felt a millenium or so before they became extinct. Wave goodbye folks.

Environmental activists in the West sometimes call for mass lifestyle changes and boycotts, implying that not just "some external evil force" is creating problems.
I whispered in the children's ears brief descriptions of the scenes and told them later that film etiquette requires sitting still for 90 minutes, even patches of boredom. We chose this movie because one of my two kids had already seen it in class, though I suspect not the whole thing.
i think every country should have a movie where they take aerial shots of how the environmental landscape has changed… I agree with you on many points here. A lot of the Taiwanese who watched this movie for the most part 1) slept through it 2) blame government but don't do much to change their lifestyle - say "Mei ban fa" 沒辦法“ and carry on with their lives. its a very defeatist culture i'm coming to learn…. In any case, I have to applaud the director for presenting firm evidence and stirring up awareness. This could be just the beginning...
