Livejournal by another name, sort of. Like InsaneJournal and GreatestJournal. I've yet to work out if there's any difference that makes Dreamwidth (I refuse to refer to it as DW, for obvious reasons...) so special, but loads of people are getting one and I just wanted to reserve my name in case there is ever a grand exodus. I doubt it, though.
http://www.dreamwidth.org/ <-- That's the homepage http://laligin.dreamwidth.org/profile <-- And that's my profile. Basically the same as LJ. Except you need invites for it, which always has people jumping on board quick in case the invites run out, I think. (:
I asked her to send you one when she said she had some because I didn't know when I was going to get more (I have 4 of them right now though, so if you know someone who needs one...)
I got an invite, too, and opened an account over there. But just like with Greatest journal or Insane journal, I don't think that DreaWi (calling it DW is confusing if one is a Doctor Who fan) will become bigger than LJ. But who knows. I have my name safe over there, and I used it as a backup for all my LJ entries. I won't post there, I think, at least not in a long while. I paid for LJ and will stay here. Now I only need to figure out if I can crosspost somehow, because I want my upcoming entries to show up on DreaWi too (the backup thing).
I planned on doing that, too. But my guess is that you cannot choose which posts you want to import, that you'd have to import everything, the new stuff and that what's already there, again, and that would screw up all my locked-or-not-locked settings again. Ah well, better than no backup at all I guess. :)
Hallo. Has added you back etc. I've been poking around at changing my own journal style but can't really be bothered right now, and it's mostly the default homepage stuff that I loathe.
LJ is prettier and more convenient, and it says something in the FAQ about not being able to import communities, so I'm thinking that alone could bring the exodus to a grinding halt before it's taken more than a step...
Hello, and yeah, so far I prefer LJ, but got caught up in worry that I won't get my name over there... (I've also got an unused myspace and insanejournal for the same reason - sad me)
didn't know that about communities, but agree that could / would be a problem, people would have to run two parallel.
Facebook, myspace, flickr, Insanejournal, greatest journal... I have accounts on quite a few of these websites, just to 'save my nickname'. Accounts I never use or even forgot about again. Weird world. :D
