I had this movie in mind. The wierd casting in the movie had put me on a backfoot to watch it on 74mm reel.
If it had been in cuttack, I would not hv minded at all. Anyways, watched the movie on a 21" screen instead! At the end of the movie( may be a bit earlier, towards the end), I pondered over the question why would anyone watch this movie and if he watched would he recommend this one. Don't know why this came into my mind, pehali baar hua hai aisa par. I came up with this logical(it was close to it) argument that, people recommend a movie when they come out of the theatre smiling, jus happy with the way the movie ended, and if movie's end does not matter to you much, then the dance/fight/dialogue sequences in the movie should do the trick. In this case, the second mode of entertainment is ruled out(though not completely). The director here has applied the first formula. After showing a lot of sadist mentality from the two Wierdos, he finally settles to do some happy ending in the anti-climax. He did a good job in building up the hatred for nana( john also), and eventually insaniyat unme jaag jaati hai and they help each other in coming out their troubles. Though the story is simple and old, but has come up again after a long time, from a different director, and obviously different class of acting from the nana and john abrahm.
Nana Patekar, the man who owns a chunne ki factory in BluffMaster is most of the times cool to watch. He tells this lines, at one point of time, main pehale se hi normal hoon and I squirt back in my mind, aap to pehali movie se hi normal hain! :-).
John Abrahm, continues to deliver again a good role. I guess, he was the perfect match for Nana, may be second to Akshay Kumar.
Musis wise, I am a not a great fan of Bappi Lahiri. 'Pehali najar me', 'mumbai nagariya' and 'aazmale aazmale' are cool enuf tracks to listen to
