So I promised I'd post about last weekend but I lied. Now that it's over I have absolutely no intention of doing so. So I'll talk about a lot of cryptic bullshit instead ( Read more... )

I think many 18 year olds are in this exact position.
It's cool to have so many opportunities open to you, but it sucks to have to choose ONE that will affect your life for the next couple years.
FUCK.

Thanks guys. It makes me feel better knowing that everyone else my age is like "what the heck am i gonna do with my life?" I know I should just focus on college and take the classes I want and see what career they push me towards... but still... I feel like I should have some sort plan... or at least an idea of what i want to do. Hahaha. Thanks though. You're comments make me feel better.

I know what you are saying and I have also thought a lot about this. I think a lot of us end up like this because of the way we are taught, starting in about 8th grade. At that point things shifted from learning lots of new things to being told that we needed to know EXACTLY what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives. It shouldn't be that way. Tell me, how many 8th graders know exactly what they want to do with their entire lives? None. I think the school system needs to stop putting such an emphasis on knowing exactly what you want to do and start displaying more options. I think if more kids knew what they were interested in and had an outlet for those interests, it would make it easier by about 12th grade to BEGIN thinking about what kinds of subjects they might consider studying as career options ( ... )

hahah. Don't be sorry for your long comment. I liked it and I totally agree. I cannot stand how they shove "career choices" down middle schooler's throats. Most college students take years to decided what they want to do. I think you're right. There really is no need to decide now. All I should focus on is getting my AA done and then figure out where I want to transfer to.
