I think it must have felt very different to those of us who watched the whole episode in one piece (including the uncut version, available via Google Play and itunes). I can see that having to wait a week for the resolution would impact perception hugely in this episode

I can certainly see where it could come across that way. I do agree that the conflict was a bit OTT, but I didn't see either of them as necessarily OOC
