Well... I spent some time in London, and now some in Antwerp. The situation has gotten confused, with feelings and who is going to wind up with whom. This has been made far, far worse by my being out of the country at a critical time

you've managed to put a rather complicated set of feelings into a much smaller and less complicated set. Bravo :)
I get stuck in the question phase, Should i take action? Do i really want to be here? How do i feel about this? etc. So dont arrive at many useful conclusions... or plans.
Don't try to plan a relationship too much though, you can't assume that the other person will be an accomplice. Even if you both have similar plans, the oddest little thing can come and fuck it all up. You're in Europe! Several countries there claim to be the land of love, you can visit more than one in a day! Search out the english speaking people, swallow your pride and leave Shy at the door. Pretend you're someone different in everything except words (ie, no straight out lies). This is your mission should you choose to accept it. My tea break is over.

That's insightful, as always. I've met one Talassia in trying to get my clothes washed, but she's a rather busy girl. My shyness was partly overcome.

Pretending to be someone different though... I'm not sure about that. My life has sufficient amounts of work these days that it's doesn't have many flavours other than the ones I normally express.

well, maybe not someone different as much as someone you aren't. You know you pretty well - its about trying to step outside of that. you know, like those exercises where you'd go and say hello to 10 people - it's something you wouldn't have done until you see it as needing to be done.. i'm getting a bit lost in the abstract now.. er.
