Notice this!

My boss is not the most mild-mannered, dispassionate individual. Still, we've been through a number of staff changes, and he has responded mildly to those. But when I gave my notice, he slammed his fists down on his desk and yelled "&@^# me!"

Typical, right? You're valued most in your absence.

It's funny how people at work express their love, huh.

I just left a job recently and one of the employees there and I were friendly. Now that I'm gone, you would have thought we were best friends. E-mails, lunches, phone calls.

Bizarre.

But hey, take what you can get and congratulations!

Congratulations. It's always nice to be valued, even if it's after the fact (although before the fact would be nicer).

And it's still better than hearing, "You're leaving? I didn't even realize that you worked here."
