I was getting all psyched up for the stunning conclusion to that story. That's what happens with most strange horror stories and such - the director builds up this awesome story and makes a real tense environment, then realises that there's no good way to 'solve' the mystery, so he just does something stupid. beacuse i'm doing drama revision right now if this was a scrip:
there is inherint non-naturalism thorough the use of narrato, the use of the dramatic, symbol, in the stagecraft element of prop manifsted itself in the purple flower,
it is more than likly artaud theater, as is shown by the use of anti climax and the use of the afore mentiond symbol acting as a catalyst in the conflit of the peice.
use of disjonted time sequence is characteristic of this style to protray meaning.
The boy himself is a statement of societs willingness to be detached from itself, this is later emphasized through the boy leaving his possesions behind.
the peice is most definatly absurdist and it's highly likly the writer was making, through the use of artauds theater of crulty and anti climax , a point about exostentialism.
