Chapter 795
Flash Forward 2039
“I still don’t get it,” Riley frowned looking up at Kris.
“What’s not to get?”
“There’s a new baby in the family,” Riley explained. “So that makes me a big brother?”
“No,” Kris smiled. “That makes you an Uncle.”
“But I’m not an adult,” Riley laughed.
“You don’t have to be an adult to be an Uncle,” Kris explained. “Being an Uncle means when your brother or sister has a baby. And Sebastian’s got a baby, and you’re that baby’s Uncle. Get it now?”
“Wait a minute,” Riley said wide eyes. “That means I’m already an Uncle?”
“Sure,” Kris nodded with a smile.
“Tristan and Grace?” Riley asked. “I’m their Uncle?”
“And the triplets,” Kris nodded.
“You mean I have power over Tristan and Grace?” Riley asked wide eyed.
“Well I don’t think that’s completely correct,” Kris pointed out. “I mean Tristan might let you get away with it, but Grace will take you down.”
“Yeah,” Riley frowned. “She can be a little mean, can’t she?”
“She is her mother’s daughter,” Kris nodded.
“So that means I’m an Uncle, but I don’t get to boss anyone around?” Riley complained. “I’m still the baby?”
“Well you’re the baby of this house,” Kris pointed out. “but our family is a little mixed up…”
“Excuse me?” Adam asked walking into the kitchen. “What are you telling the boy?”
“He’s trying to understand how he is an Uncle,” Kris explained.
“Oh don’t get there,” Adam said shaking his head. “it’s too damn confusing.”
“Our family is confusing?” Riley quizzed.
“We’re a very modern family,” Adam nodded. “That’s all you need to know.”
“Are we a weird family?” Riley asked.
“Well that’s a can of worms that doesn’t need to be open,” Kris laughed.
“Hey weird isn’t a bad thing,” Adam frowned. “The world needs a little more weird, sometimes. Anyway why are you having this mid toddler life crisis?”
“I have to write a story about my family for school,” Riley answered causing Kris and Adam to look at each other. “What? Did I say something wrong?”
“Of course not,” Kris answered. “But what kind of story?”
“Just about the people in our family,” Riley shrugged.
“You going to name us?” Adam asked.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Adam said shaking his head. “Well you’re going to have to let me read your story before you hand it into the teacher.”
“Even the pictures?” Riley asked.
“Oh god there’s pictures,” Kris mumbled.
“What kind of pictures?” Adam asked.
“Just ones I’ve taken from the photo albums,” Riley answered. “But don’t worry, my teacher said I would get them back.”
“Cool,” Adam said smiling uneasy.
“Is it?” Kris asked. “Is it really?”
“I don’t know,” Adam shrugged. “I’m just saying words.”
“I’m sure it will be fine,” Kris shrugged. “I mean that school has had many reasons to call Social work on us. They never do.”
“That’s a good point,” Adam nodded. “I mean the things Sophia did.”
“That’s what I’m saying,” Kris nodded.
“What did Sophia do?” Riley asked looking between Adam and Kris.
“It doesn’t matter,” Adam shrugged.
“Now your story should… “What the hell?” Kris said as he looked out of the kitchen door.
“What?” Adam frowned.
“Elle get in here,” Kris called out. “Get in here now.”
“I’m sort of running late,” Elle complained as she entered the kitchen.
“Oh dear,” Adam said wide eyed.
“What.. what… I don’t even know what to say,” Kris said.
“I think your Dad is saying, what are you wearing?” Adam said calmly.
“Oh I’m going to a party,” Elle answered.
“What… what…”
“What kind of party? Your Dad is asking,” Adam added.
“Oh it’s a drag queen party,” Elle smiled. “You like my outfit?”
“Adam?” Kris said.
“I think what your Dad is saying is it’s a bit… much,” Adam explained.
“Well it’s supposed to be a bit much,” Elle frowned. “It’s a drag queen.”
“But you’re a girl,” Kris pointed out.
“And?” Elle asked. “I’m wearing a dress.”
“No what I mean is drag queens are men,” Kris explained. “Isn’t it a little offensive to be dressing like them? Like you’re making fun of them?”
“Of course not,” Adam frowned. “Drag queens aren’t that sensitive.”
“Not helping right now,” Kris said through gritted teeth.
“I’m just saying,” Adam mumbled.
“Well I’m just saying that you should go upstairs and wash half of that horrible make up off,” Kris frowned. “You look like you’re in a horror movie.”
“That’s the point,” Elle pointed out. “I’m a drag queen from a horror movie. See… this scar on my face is from a chain saw.”
“From a chain saw?” Kris asked confused. “You don’t get little scars from chain saws. You get your head cut off from chain saws.”
“Yeah well I can’t do anything about that,” Elle shrugged. “Okay are we done here, because I’ve got people outside waiting for me.”
“Adam?” Kris asked. “What are you going to do about this?”
“I… don’t know,” Adam answered.
“You don’t see a problem here?” Kris asked. “is that what you’re saying.”
“What I’m saying is that’s my wig that I used to wear when I wore drag,” Adam whispered in Kris’s ear. “I don’t think I have a moral leg to stand on.”
“Elle just go,” Kris sighed loudly.
“You sure?” Elle asked. “I didn’t want you changing your mind half way through the night and coming to the party to get me.”
“I’m sure,” Kris nodded.
“Have a good time,” Adam called out as Elle walked out of the kitchen.
“This family is too much at times,” Kris said shaking his head.
“You okay?” Adam asked rubbing Kris’s back gently.
“I don’t know,” Kris groaned.
“It’s just a little drag,” Adam shrugged. “She’s not hurting anyone.”
“I sometimes forget what kind of life you had before me,” Kris remarked.
“Hey I only did drag on special days,” Adam shrugged. “It’s all fun.”
“Fun,” Kris laughed. “Sure it… Riley stop taking notes,” he added loudly.
“How do you spell queen?” Riley asked looking up from his notebook.
….………………………………………..
“What the hell is that?” Sebastian asked confused.
“That warms the wipes,” Jacob answered.
“Why the hell would I want to warm wipes?” Sebastian frowned.
“Well would you want someone wiping your ass with a cold wipe?” Jacob asked.
“I guess I’m buying one,” Sebastian sighed as he threw the wipe warmer into the shopping cart.
“It’s for the best,” Jacob nodded. “Your daughter will thank you for it.”
“Okay,” Sebastian sighed. “What else do I need?”
“You probably need everything,” Jacob answered. “I mean you don’t want to me moving everything from her mothers house to your house. It’s best if you have it all there for when she’s with you.”
“I guess I’m going to need some sort of bed,” Sebastian sighed.
“Yeah she’s going to need one of them,” Jacob nodded. “And a basket for her to nap in.”
“She’s going to sleep in a basket?” Sebastian asked confused.
“Don’t worry about that,” Jacob answered. “I have three of them. All you have to do is buy a new mattress. Now lets look at the strollers. They’re over here.”
“I’m not buying a pick one so step away from that one,” Sebastian warned.
“But she’s a girl,” Jacob complained.
“Yeah well let her mother walk around pushing a pink stroller” Sebastian shrugged. “I’m picking a white one.”
“Oh you don’t want a white stroller,” Jacob said shaking his head.
“Why the hell not?” Sebastian complained. “Whites a great color.”
“Sure if you want it ruined in minutes,” Jacob nodded. “you know how messy babies can be?”
“She’s a tiny little thing,” Sebastian pointed out. “She doesn’t do anything.”
“But she’ll soon learn,” Jacob pointed out. “She’ll soon be eating chocolate and mushy food. It’s going to get everywhere.”
“So what color should I pick?” Sebastian sighed.
“I’d say this grey one looks pretty good,” Jacob answered.
“Okay I’ll get… what the hell kind of price is this?” Sebastian said loudly causing Jacob to look around.
“Well you keep it down?” Jacob hissed. “You’re going to make people think we’re poor.”
“I will be poor if I keep buying like this,” Sebastian frowned.
“Yeah well you better get used to it,” Jacob shrugged. “You’ve got another eighteen years of paying for everything. And she’s a girl. It’s going to cost double.”
“I’m never having sex again,” Sebastian grumbled.
“Yeah that’s probably true,” Jacob smirked. “You’re never going to get a girl to go out with you again.”
….……………………………………………
“Look who I have,” Adam said gently as he walked into the living room.
“How did you get her?” Kris frowned as Adam said down next to him with Sophia in his arms.
“I called Ashley and asked her if we could babysit for a few hours,” Adam shrugged.
“Adam you can’t do that,” Kris complained. “We can’t push this on Sebastian.”
“Sebastian’s not home,” Adam pointed out. “Anyway we need to get to know little Sophia.”
“Little Sophia,” Kris smirked. “We’re going to have to figure out how we’re going to work this. How can we have two Sophia’s?”
“I think this one will need a nickname,” Adam smirked looking down at the baby in his arms.
“Got any ideas?” Kris asked. “Maybe her middle name?”
“Want to know what her middle name is?”
“Sure,” Kris nodded as he ran his hand softly over the baby’s head.
“Grace.”
“Shut up,” Kris groaned. “You’re joking.”
“Nope,” Adam answered shaking his head. “I asked Ashley when she dropped her off.”
“Sophia Grace?” Kris asked. “Is that what we’re calling her?”
“I think so,” Adam nodded. “Little Sophia Grace.”
“It’s kind of sweet,” Kris smiled.
“She’s kind of sweet,” Adam said softly.
“What do you think about Sebastian?”
“He’s…”
“He’s right there,” Sebastian said walking into the living room.
“Hey honey,” Adam smiled. “Look who’s here.”
“How did she get here?” Sebastian asked looking down at the baby in his Papa’s arms.
“Ashley dropped her off,” Kris answered. “But don’t worry, your Papa and I can watch her.”
“Yeah no pressure,” Adam added quickly.
“That’s okay,” Sebastian shrugged. “I was just at a baby store with Jacob. I was buying some things for her.”
“Yeah?” Adam smiled. “Get everything you need?”
“God knows,” Sebastian sighed. “Jacob sort of told me what to get. I got her a wipe warmer. Its supposed to keep her butt warm or something.”
“That’s great,” Kris smiled. “So what are you doing now?”
“I’m going to…” Sebastian paused looking down at the baby. “Maybe I should hold her.”
“You want to hold her?” Adam said as he stood up quickly.
“Should I?” Sebastian asked.
“Of course,” Adam nodded. “I mean she’s fast asleep. It’s a perfect time to hold a baby,” he added as he gently placed the baby in Sebastian arms.
“She’s… tiny,” Sebastian said looking down. “I mean really tiny.”
“She’s like you,” Kris remarked. “You were this tiny.”
Sebastian smiled. “She’s kind of cute, isn’t she?”
“She’s beautiful,” Adam nodded in agreement.
