Chapter 796
Flash Forward 2039
“I think our son is in love,” Adam remarked as he peeked around the living room door.
“I’m glad,” Kris smiled.
“He’s been holding her for hours,” Adam smiled. I feel a little un needed.”
“Just wait till there is a dirty diaper,” Kris smirked. “You’ll soon be needed again.”
“I don’t think so,” Adam said shaking his head. “He’s already changed her. And fed her. He even called Ashley to see if he can keep her another couple of hours.”
“He’s certainly dedicated,” Kris nodded.
“Want to know something weird?” Adam asked.
“Always,” Kris nodded.
“We are grandparents to six kids,” Adam said quietly. “Three of our four kids are parents.”
“Shut up,” Kris laughed.
“It’s a fact.”
“It’s a scary fact,” Kris grumbled.
“We’re getting old,” Adam grumbled. “I’ve been trying to run from it for years, but it’s catching up with us.”
“What do you mean us?” Kris frowned. “Remember I’m four years younger than you. Always will be.”
“Yeah but at least I have all my hair,” Adam shrugged.
“That’s a low blow,” Kris frowned.
“And yet it’s true,” Adam shrugged.
“Yeah it’s true.”
“Brad,” Kris said through gritted teeth as he turned to find Brad before them. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“It’s called visiting,” Brad answered. “Why are you two standing outside of your living room?”
“We’re just watching Sebastian,” Adam answered as he moved towards the living room. “He’s in there with the baby.”
“The baby,” Brad said. “You know I don’t like her name,” he added as he followed Adam.
“You mean our oldest daughter’s name?” Kris asked.
“Yeah it’s a little boring,” Brad nodded. “We’re going to have to come up with another name. She got a middle name?”
“Yeah,” Kris nodded. “It’s Grace?”
“Seriously?” Brad frowned. “Is this Ashley chick some sort of family stalker or something?”
“The baby’s name is Sophia Grace and that’s what we’re going to call her,” Kris said. “Okay?”
“You can call her what you want,” Brad shrugged. “I’m calling her bunny.”
“Bunny?” Adam frowned. “Why the hell would you call her bunny?”
“You not noticed her nose?” Brad asked. “She’s got a cute little bunny nose. So I’m calling her bunny.”
“Fine,” Kris sighed. “You call her that,” he added as he took a seat a the kitchen table.
“You’re not going to fight him on it?” Adam asked surprised.
“I’m too tired to fight with him,” Kris answered. “Anyway he’ll do something stupid soon and I can fight him over that.”
“You don’t have a lot of hope with me, do you?” Brad remarked with a raised eyebrow.
“Not even a little,” Kris answered honestly.
“Well I’m not here to see you, anyway,” Brad shrugged. “I’m hear to see Elle.”
“And what the hell do you want with my daughter?” Kris asked. “See?” he added. “It didn’t take too long for you to do something stupid. Didn’t take any time at all.”
“Yeah what do you want with Elle?”
“I want to know about her drag queen party,” Brad answered. “She said if it was good, she’d take me next time.”
“You can’t go to a party full of teens,” Kris pointed out.
“Why not?” Brad shrugged.
“Because it’s creepy,” Adam answered.
“How is it creepy?” Brad frowned.
“Because you’re an old man,” Kris answered. “You’re not going to a teenage party.”
“But I already have my drag outfit ready,”Brad complained.
“And you’re really not going dressed in drag,” Adam frowned. “You’ll get arrested. Or beaten up by some girls father.”
“In second thoughts why don’t you go,” Kris smiled. “I’m sure you’ll have fun.”
….………………………………………..
“So he’s pissed?” Elle quizzed from the bed.
“Isn’t he always?” Brad shrugged as he struggled into a pair of Elle’s heels.
“Think he’s going to stop us going?”
“Us?” Brad laughed. “He’s not my father.”
“Yeah but he can still stop you,” Elle pointed out. “He’ll call Ben.”
“And Ben’s not the boss of me,” Brad laughed.
“Didn’t he stop you buying that belt last week?” Elle asked.
“Of course not,” Brad answered. “I just made him think he stopped me from buying it. When really I didn’t want it in the first place. I only said I wanted it so he would stop me.”
“I don’t understand that,” Elle frowned.
“What I mean is I made him think that he was getting his own way so that in the future I could get my own way,” Brad answered. “It’s the first rule of marriage.”
“You’re a little evil, aren’t you?” Elle smirked.
“I’m more that a little,” Brad answered before spinning around in the high heels as Kris walked into Elle’s room.
“Elle want do you…” Kris stopped talking as Brad stumbled into him, causing them both to fall onto the ground. “You stupid…”
“Hey you get off me,” Brad cried out.
“You elbowed me in the mouth,” Kris complained.
“Oh Dad,” Elle said with wide eyes.
“Oh dear,” Brad said before moving away from Kris quickly.
“What?” Kris asked confused.
“Dad you’re bleeding,” Elle said pulling a face.
“Am I?” Kris asked putting his hand up to his mouth. “Son of a bitch… my tooth.”
“I think it’s on the floor,” Brad said pointing towards Kris’s feet.
….………………………………….
“I don’t know why you’re still here,” Adam remarked.
“I’m visiting,” Brad shrugged.
“You know for a fact that the second that Kris gets back from the dentist, he’s going to kill you,” Adam pointed out.
“Because I hit him?” Brad frowned. “But it was an accident.”
“Yeah he’s not going to see it that way,” Adam shrugged. “He’s going to come in here like a bear with a headache. You’re going to suffer.”
“Your husband doesn’t scare me,” Brad mumbled.
“Well don’t come crying to me,” Adam shrugged.
“It’s only a tooth,” Brad said rolling his eyes. “It’s not like I ran him over or something. He’ll get it fixed.”
“Whatever you say,” Adam shrugged. “All I know is that you were already up in Elle’s room trying to convince her to let you go to that party. Even though Kris said no. So you’re just doubling down on the beating he’s going to give you.”
“like he could beat me up,” Brad said rolling his eyes.
“I’m back.”
“Shit he’s back,” Brad said running to hide behind Adam.
“I thought you weren’t scared,” Adam smirked.
“Shut up and distract him,” Brad whispered.
“I’m in here,” Adam called out.
“Don’t bring him in here,” Brad complained as he moved to the other side of the kitchen table.
“There you are,” Kris said as he walked into the kitchen.
“Everything go okay?” Adam asked.
“Sure,” Kris nodded. “Got it all fixed. Even got my teeth cleaned while I was there.”
“So you’re okay?” Brad asked cautiously.
“There you are,” Kris said as he moved towards the table.
“Don’t come any closer,” Brad warned. “I bite you know.”
“Right,” Kris smiled as he took another step closer.
“I’m serious,” Brad warned. “I’ll hurt you.”
“Don’t tease him,” Adam frowned.
“Bradley,” Kris said calmly.
“Yes?” Brad asked cautiously.
“Come here,” Kris said as he waved his hand at Brad.
“I don’t think so,” Brad said shaking his head.
“No seriously,” Kris said. “Come here.”
“Don’t do it,” Adam whispered. “It’s s trap.”
“Brad please come here,” Kris said as he took a step forward. “It’s okay, just come here.”
“Fine,” Brad said as he walked around the table. “But I warn you. I will bite. I will scratch. I will slap you like a woman.”
“You’re funny,” Kris smiled as Brad stopped in front of him.
“Now what?” Brad asked as he looked at Kris.
“Come here,” Kris smiled as he opened his arms wide and pulled Brad in for a hug.
“Adam?” Brad asked confused. “What’s going on?”
“I… I don’t know,” Adam frowned. “Kris honey, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Kris smiled as he swayed back and forth with Brad in his arms.
“What the hell is going on?” Brad complained.
“I don’t know I think it’s some sort of weird ritual,” Adam frowned. “Like a wild animal playing with its food before it kills it.”
“Bradley?” Kris said pulling back to look into Brad’s eyes.
“Yes, Kris?” Brad asked uneasy.
“I love you,” Kris said smiling widely.
“Okay stop that right now,” Brad said as he pulled away. “I don’t know what crazy shit you’re up to, but I won’t be any part of it. Talking about how you love me. You’re insane.”
“I’m just saying,” Kris shrugged. “I mean we’ve been friends for almost thirty years. We’ve been through a lot. Every important even in our lives, you’ve been there. Always there.”
“This you calling me a stalker or something?” Brad asked confused.
“I just mean that I’ve known you for more than half my life,” Kris smiled. “And I love you.”
“Adam?” Brad frowned. “Why is he doing this?”
“I’m not too sure,” Adam frowned.
“All you need is love,” Kris announced. “And I have lots of it. I’m full of love.”
“You’re full of shit,” Brad grumbled. “I mean what is going on? I knock your tooth out and instead of freaking out like you usually do, you come in here talking about how you love me? I don’t understand what kind of freaky shit you are into.”
“I’m just trying to tell my friend that I love him,” Kris shrugged. “And you want to know something else?”
“Okay,” Brad nodded cautiously. “What?”
“If anything was to ever happen to me or Adam, I would want you to raise my children,” Kris answered causing Brad to let out a loud laugh.
“No I know you’re insane.”
“Kris?” Adam frowned as he took a step closer to his husband.
“Yes honey?” Kris smiled.
“When you were at the dentist did they give you any sort of pain meds?” Adam asked.
“Might have,” Kris shrugged. “They jabbed in my mouth with a big ass needle. But what does that have to do with me loving Brad?”
“He’s high,” Adam said turning to look at Brad.
“What?”
“He’s doped up,” Adam explained. “He’s high as a kite.”
“Am not,” Kris said rolling his eyes.
“He’s high?” Brad smiled.
“He’s always like this on meds,” Adam shrugged. “He’s full of love, and desperate to help people.”
“Really?” Brad asked taking a step closer. “And how long does that last?”
“A few hours,” Adam shrugged as he turned to fix some coffee.
“Well that’s interesting,” Brad smiled as Kris smiled back at him. “That’s very interesting.”
