Oscars last night were very amusing. The beginning movie was funny, going through the possible hosts (Mel Gibson and the cast of "Apocalypto" saying in Mayan "Not me" and "Not us", and then being chased off by a fake panther was the best). Jon Stewart was a great host, making all the intelligent quips and zingers that make him always funny to ( Read more... )

I couldn't have said it better myself! Except I didn't mind the music all that much, and I kinda' liked the montages. Especially when Jon Stewart made the comment about not having any clips left. And how about 3 6 Mafia winning for best song? WTF? Still, it was one of the most memorable parts of the evening. I think my favorite though was when Stewart came on and said "could you guys get a shot of the statue behind me?" and the camera zoomed out on the giant oscar statue, and then he said "do you think that if we all got together and pulled that thing down that democracy would flourish?"

I have nothing against montages being shown at the Academy Awards...AS LONG AS THEY ARE USED IN MODERATION. Indeed, Stewart's comment about the montages was very astute, I thought. I forgot about the big Oscar statue comment. That was funny. And why was he picking on Itzhak Perlman? He was good.

I hated that song so much when they first played it. Now I can't get it out of my head and I think I'm going to download it, because it has grown on me that much. I said to my brother, "This song is subtle, but if you listen closely, you might get the message. I think what they are trying to say is that it is hard. Out here. For a pimp. I think, it's hard to tell as they don't come right out and say it ever...."

Yay for rambling in the comments!
