It really is a perfect day to wander around. The sun is comfortably high in the sky. Light outlining the faults in the stonework of the castle. The large building doesn't stretch out amazingly far. It quickly peters out into courtyards. The entrance gate looms behind them and the wall continues to encompass the grounds around the castle. A few

It's not too far a walk. Alistair's determined strides certainly help to close the gap. Phaedra's door is set aside from the others. The marginally more decorative door is set into the wall, a few steps leading to the threshold. The corridor seems suddenly quiet and Alistair stops at the door.
His reassuring smile is a good attempt but doesn't quite hide his nerves. "Are you ready?"

He very nearly does skip then. Eager to try and show her as many places as possible. Between his skipping happy striding and the short distance remaining they get there very quickly ( ... )

The sight of no electrical appliances bothers her a little bit, if only because she's never used actual fire to cook a cake over. But that huge Dutch oven being hefted over makes her nudge her boyfriend in the ribs. "Al! Next time, use all those lovely muscles and grab that for her." she whispers it not to embarrass him.
"Oh, Miss Elsa, I'm not sure I could. It smells delicious in here."

The cook smiles at the compliment. Clearly proud of her work. "That's very kind of you to say, miss Julia. We do the best we can to feed all these hungry mouths."
"And you do a fine job of it too," Alistair assures her with a nod.
She smiles at him. "I'm glad you think so. We do have to do a bit of extra catering for you vegetarians, sometimes." Then she looks at Julia. "Do you have a kitchen to work with?"

"I have.." she falters for a moment here, not sure how much she should divulge. "It's not as big," she says a little lamely.

When the familiar knock comes at the door, he brightens immediately. Already grinning as he jumps up and goes to greet his friend. Nothing relieves boredom like a visit from Alistair. The vampire is dressed in his customary way. A dark blue silk shirt, long-sleeved and flowing, tucked into a pair of leather trousers. A black vest over the shirt, casually unbuttoned, his favorite black boots on his feet. He's glad he won't have to ask his friend to wait in the hallway while he makes himself presentable. Sebastien occasionally lounges around his room en deshabille, a habit he hasn't quite been able to break ( ... )

He looks to his girlfriend and takes her hand in the both of his. "Sebastien, this is my dear Julia." Then he smiles back to the vampire. "Julia, this is my dear friend, Sebastien."

Julia stares, just for a moment. Wow. "Hi, Sebastien," she says cheerfully. "Should we shake hands or something?"

"It is a very great honour to make your acquaintance, Mademoiselle Julia."
He pauses just a moment, barely the space of a heartbeat. His lips parted, ostensibly for that polite barely-there kiss, but really he's scenting her. Curious about his closest friend's secret amour. He blinks and releases her hand, his smile firmly fixed in place but a look of faint surprise on his face as he glances at Alistair. The smell of her blood is rich and startling. Different somehow. Human, yes, but not entirely. There's something else. Something he hasn't encountered before ( ... )
