I couldn't even fit everything onto that. When I realized that, I decided that I might as well go with something in the <10GB range next time. I think I actually enjoy listening to music on my iPod more when I had to put some thought in advance into picking what actually went on there.
iTunes' smart playlists are fun to mess around with and make it a pretty simple process, though. Right now I put all songs from 2006 + songs that I've marked specifically as "5 stars" (I don't normally use the rating system, just for the 5-star list) on my 20GB old model. Look forward to having a much smaller form factor and no spinning hard disk, though.
the video is just too damn big. we live in a world of "micro-" and this especially applies to music. the video is slightly oversized and you'll NEVER use the video feature(s). the battery life has been shown to suck at least in my ipod.
Also, are you gonna be hooked up to that thing all day long? While taking a bath (or shying away from one)? While studying, mayhaps, but while wandering, going out, blah blah blah?
For the 30 minute jog and the occasional trip into the city/village/supermarket, the nano would be ok.
I mean, it would also depend on your music library. I can't use the nano by a longshot, but I'm thinking about the 60Gb video. Although the "video" capabilities are the feature I will use the least.
So also that. The Nano is comfier and, to me, sturdier even. The Video might be a bit unwieldy for casual travelling. Also, you just can't listen to 2,500 rap songs all in a row, so please don't. I'd also have to add the fact that you might actually enjoy some european music, but god forbid you listen to spaniard pop, since its La Mierda, anyways, you might be tempted to bring some back in your IPod----OH NO! no space.
then go with the 4 Gb nano, make some killer playlists, and you're set. there's nothing worse than having an ipod and listening to those kinda crappy songs you have for various reasons but really really don't like that much.
bigger ISN"T better with these things..who cares if you can hold 3oooo gazillion hours of songs on your ipod! when are you going to listen to them all?
adrienne already knows my views on all this anywho..heh
4 gb Nano. But don't sit on it. The screen dies. It gives you enough room for some good play lists but can still hold enough music that you can't listen to all of it in a week. And it isn't like you're going to be watching movies on it so the videos would be way too much music to be able to listen to it. And they cost a shit ton.
I saw the black one. I wonder how fast I can make 3 grand so I can pay off my father and buy it. Matters how long you want the compy. Just for college then I'd say iBook. For 5 years post college go MacBook. If you get a MacBook I'm going to have mad tech envy. Like rampant tech envy.
i'm just saying, ipods are fast becoming a necessary tool for the technologically-savvy adult.
my thinking is, if you're going to swing for an ipod, swing the whole way and go video.
even if you don't use a lot of the features, you still CAN. is it better to buy something for a lot of money that has just what you need, or something for a lot of money that has what you need PLUS some features that may come in handy down the road?
