*ahem*
REMUS/TONKS IS CANON!!!!!!!!!!!!
*cough* Sorry.
Actually, no I'm not. I am UNBELIEVABLY happy. I mean, I knew Dumbledore was going to die--yeah, okay, sucks, yadda yadda yadda, but still. REMUS/TONKS!
So I was at least partially right, or at least one of my theories was. I thought it was grabbing at straws and wishful thinking, but HELL YES!
...that page WAS like a really bad fan fiction though, I'll give it that. BUT STILL! CANON! EEEP!
Harry/Ginny annoyed me until the end. Snape's betrayal had my mouth dropping open, and I literally let out a screech in the middle of a Logan's Roadhouse in Lexington, Kentucky that made the tables around us silent when Harry attacked Malfoy like that (I thought he was dead).
I suspected Snape. Snape was my second guess for the Half-Blood Prince, moved to first when the whole Potions book was revealed, and I still think, in all honesty, that he had a serious, serious thing for Lily--they were obviously matched in Potions ability, as Slughorn kept going on and on about how Lily was a natural as well, so either Lily cheated off of Snape, Snape cheated off of Lily, or they were evenly matched (or perhaps Lily was even better than him?), which either inspired serious hate/jealousy in Snape, or he had a secret thing for her, which is why he went to Dumbledore in the first place.
I think his betrayal wasn't as much of a betrayal as we think it is. There was something else going on there, something else we haven't gotten yet--we STILL don't know Dumbledore's reason for trusting Snape (it was ironclad, remember?), and I refuse to jump to the conclusion that everything in that scene was as it appeared. Perhaps Dumbledore also has a Horcrux (?). Perhaps, using Legilimency, Dumbledore told Snape to kill him. There is only so much we can draw from what Harry saw...
But OMG. REMUS/TONKS!
I think I read that page about a dozen times before moving on.
The ending was amazing, by far the best yet. I just--I sat there and nearly cried. There's only one more book left, guys. One more, then it's all over.
This is my favorite so far of the series, I think that goes without saying. Even the book's pretty--black and violet, with that beautiful purple lettering on the spine.
Bill/Fleur didn't surprise me, and him becoming some sort of...err...werewolf thing...I think that's pretty damn cool. And that Fleur stayed WITH him...! I like her. I didn't before, now I do.
And not just 'cause that scene led up to Remus/Tonks, either. =P
I am unbelievably happy. This is by far the most satisfying book so far. The fifth book, nuh uh, but this one...?
R.A.B. I had a theory on that one, lemme go check it out...
Nah, doesn't work. "Amy Benson" is A.B., and I remembered they both had B last names, so if the other victim of Tom Riddle at the orphanage had the first name of R...but alas, it's Dennis.
ETA: I love the idea of R.A.B. being Regulus. Also, my first thought when I was doing the whole "counting horcruxes" thing on my fingers...Zacharias Smith is a descendent of Hufflepuff, 100% positive. That was no coincidence there. Chances are, he doesn't know, although given his haughtiness, he might.
What if Harry surviving Avada Kedavra wasn't that at all? What if Voldemort turned him into a horcrux? There are so many things that aren't explained...so many connections between Voldemort and Harry that we don't understand, that don't make sense As Is...so what if Voldemort wanted to turn the Last Descendent of Godric Gryffindor into a Horcrux?
What if that's why the Sorting Hat almost put Harry into Slytherin? Because a piece of Voldemort's soul is inside of him? What if that's why it was so painful for Voldemort to possess Harry in the Ministry of Magic in OotP?
Thoughts?
EXCITEMENT!
I'm sure there will be much more squealing to come over this.
Came home from Kentucky early, in case any of you noticed...turns out Dad forgot one of his vital medications that he can't go a day without, so we left around 2PMish and got home a little after 8.
My head's still swimming, I finished only twenty minutes ago...am SO going to reread this baby!
Ciao,
