I love the simplicity too which drew me to the image. Then when I received the Tudor Tailor book, I knew I wanted to do it. I wanted to do it in some turquoise wool I picked up but since I don't have a lot, I was scared to. For the War, they wanted everyone in green for the procession and I had the 3.5 yards of the linen which I scrounged into the dress. The back is a pleated rectangle the width of the fabric and the fronts are gored as drawn in the book. Sometimes I do appreciate being short! Now I am not so intimidated by the 5 yards of wool. I want to do paned sleeves on that one. Since I am more comfortable with my doublet style bodice, I want to try the Laton jacket as well.
