I was trying to balance my check book the other night. I couldn't get it to balance to save my life. It took Berta an hour, but she managed to figure out that I was being stupid. I didn't take out the right amounts on some of my entries. Am I the only fool out there, or do I I have company.

I always have more in the bank than what I am shown.
Any ways, I check our bank online as well and keep the deposit slips.
Last year before going back to Seattle we were depositing our money from our wedding reception (checks and cash) and the lady *forgot* to deposit ONLY the cash amount and I made her redo it. She was trying to say she would later, NO WAY. She claimed she just forgot to count it.
Any ways, a few weeks later she was arrested because she was taking money (just the cash) from people's deposits.
Now I am diligent.

There is no longer a need to balance ones check book; at least not the old way with the T accounts or the one on the back of your statement.
These days, things happen much quicker...so what I do is go on-line to my bank stuff, take their balance shown----subtract what my check book shows----and usually the difference is a check or an electronic payment I've made in that last couple days.
Check book balancing is sooooooooo much nicer now...and this from a guy that would work on balancing even if I was off by One Cent! :)

There is more on her I'll tell ya outside of here...maybe Tuesday. :)
