I don't know how this started, but a while back I started a list. It's a list of the art I would buy for my personal collection, if I were to ever to become obscenely wealthy enough to afford a "private collection". (I mean, I have a collection of art now, but not of the scale of monetary value that could merit the label "private collection

I have an ongoing fantasy art list myself: Mit und Gegen & Heavy Red by Kandinsky, Ephemere by Michael Zancan (of which I have a print), Deus en Machina II & All The Endless Possibilities by Ryan Ayers, Dallas Chaos II by Peter Dean and Sternenfall by Anselm Kiefer. The last two are currently at the Blanton and I could stare at them all day.

I remember seeing Dallas Chaos II at the Blanton. I couldn't really get a bead on it. I remember spending a lot of time looking at it and just not quite making the connection that I could tell it was calling for. I'll have to hit the Blanton again soon to take some more time with it.

Oh, and obviously the lesson here is that we both need to become obscenely wealthy art collectors.
