Give and Take

I have been commuting to work for a few months now. Its draining and long. Each way is about 1.5hrs and the only relief i get from this time sink is to compulsively complain about it and garner sympathy from those close to me. But you can roll up a newspaper really tight and rub it against a rough object for a few hours to make it sharp enough to run through someone. I learned that from some inmate on some prison show.

I know exactly who you are talking about and have wondered the same thing RE: do they interact with each other ever? I am under the impression that those newspaper people get to go home once they've distributed all their newspapers, and I think the cheery outgoing people probably get to go home sooner, so who knows how genuine her smile really is.

The newspaper girl sounds nice. The homeless guy seems fed up with his line of work. Perhaps the interaction that needs to happen is some customer service training from the girl. She could teach him a thing or two about service with a smile. Perhaps that's why he's homeless, though. Never got the ability to smile at those he despises.
