Character
Name: Terra
Series: Kingdom Hearts - Birth by Sleep
Timeline: Before the fight with Xehanort.
Canon Resource Links: This is pretty accurate.
Affiliation: Trainer!

Personality: The first thing you'd notice about Terra is that he's a pretty chill guy. Calm and collected, Terra's mature for his age and is respectful to both peers and elders. He is extremely loyal to his friends and though he might come across as stoic, he has a warm heart that would fight relentlessly for them. His friends and Master Eraqus are what defined and molded him into what he is today; they are his driving force along with his motivations to do better and to pursue his dreams. Yet, it is also his desire to succeed that makes him blinded by truths and just as easily to manipulate.

The darkness in Terra's heart runs deep and with the right words, villainous people are able to shape him to their liking. This is demonstrated clearly by Xehanort; Terra's greatest goal in his life is to be a Keyblade Master, but after he fails his Mark of Mastery test, he begins to doubt himself. Xehanort took that doubt and bolstered Terra's ego, fostering his darkness and making him believe that with Xehanort's help, he would be able to become the Master he dreams of being. It was this that eventually led Terra to doubt Aqua, after he misinterprets Eraqus' request for her to watch over him as spying. Despite the fact that he has known both Aqua and Ventus for a long time, his desire for power clouded his love for them and eventually put a great strain on his heart. Terra values and treasures his friendship with them, however, as he begins to distance himself from them, he doesn't realize that his actions are jeopardizing their relationship.

Though Terra can get defensive sometimes and while his may hold darkness, he has good intentions. It has been said by Master Xehanort that his heart is too "good", that he doesn't have the heart to carry out the things that Xehanort wants him to do (i.e.: stealing a Princess' heart). He never truly wanted to cast aside his friends -- he is still fiercely protective over them, enough to even go into an defensive rage and strike out against Eraqus when the latter attempted to destroy Ventus. This protective streak extends even to people he doesn't know very well; he will protect anyone, the reason simply being if he feels they need it or not. If he must utilize the power of Darkness to protect them, then he will without hesitation -- their safety is much more important than his own. This is where he contradicts himself because even though he seems calm and collected, he is easily provoked when it comes to Ventus and Aqua.

However, the light that remains in Terra's heart keeps him balanced, and it's this light that eventually make him realize the error of his ways. After he defeats Eraqus, he is overcome with guilt and comes to terms with the fact that he was manipulated by Xehanort. It is then that he swears that he will never turn against his friends ever again. In the end, Terra is able to overcome his pride and desire for power to take steps to make up for what he has done.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:

→ Physical Strength: Baby, all those muscles aren't just for show, you know. This boy is built and built hard as a wall. Unlike Ven and Aqua, his skills and style of fighting are centered around his brute strength, putting his muscled physique to good use. Terra hits harder, better, faster, stronger, which makes up for his lack in speed and magic proficiency. Put simply, this guy is a tank and probably the best tank out of the whole KH series -- right up there with Lexaeus.

→ Keyblade: Terra's keyblade is named (rather aptly) Earthshaker. Aside from using it as a weapon and for unlocking locks of any kind, he can also use it to summon his Glider. Pretty hot, yeah? With it, he can zip around everywhere he so pleases and even use it to travel to different worlds.

→ Darkness: Because of the Darkness in his heart, many of Terra's abilities are dark-based (i.e.: Dark Firaga, and his command style, Dark Impulse). It is also because of this and the fact that he is attuned to the balance of Light and Darkness that he can sense the Darkness in others as well.

→ Armor: Terra wears a sort of detached shoulder guard/gauntlet on his left arm and with a strike, it transforms into a full suit of armor. His armor protects him from physical harm, allows him to breathe in space when he travels to new worlds, and even the Darkness. Think if it as a sort of HAZMAT suit if you will.

→ Faith in friends: Terra is half Disney, and as such, he is a firm believer in the powers of friendship. Even though there was a time when he doubted them, Terra was still protective of them and when he overcame it, his confidence and belief in them became even stronger.

Weaknesses:

→ Speed: He may be tough, but Terra isn't the fastest out of the three; that title belongs to Ventus.

→ Darkness: As much as he's proficient in using it in battle, it's also his weakness in that many denizens of Darkness utilize it to manipulate him. (See: Maleficent)

→ Friends: His friends are his strength as much as his weakness, since he would do anything to protect them.

Samples

First Person Sample:
[It takes him a few tries to get the camera to work; the feed flicking in and out with brief images of the houses in New Bark Town. On the last try, Terra's face finally comes into focus; he looks mightily confused, but is rather calm for the most part.]

Someone told me this is how people communicate. [He looks kind of awkward saying this (lmao talking to a device this is new), but keeps going anyway.] My name is Terra. [There's a squeak off-screen and Terra glances down for a second and then back up.]

And... if someone could tell me what I'm supposed to do with this... thing, [And the camera shows a cute little Diglett staring up from its position in the ground] let me know. Thanks.

Third Person Sample:
As it was, Terra found himself locked in a staring contest with the small brown thing peeking up at him from the dirt. Now, Terra was no stranger to odd looking things -- after all, he's seen his fair share of Unversed and he's rescued the little blue critter from space, Experiment 626 or whatever it was called. Still, the brown creature in front of him certainly looked different from those; it seemed harmless enough, but Terra knew that looks could be very deceiving.

Speaking of strange, he wasn't even sure how he got here, nor did he really know what this place was. He hardly got in a question before his "Mom" all but threw him out of the house with a bunch of weird items and insisted he hurry up before he was late. Late for what, he didn't know. The old man wasn't that helpful either -- Terra figured they were either in on the same prank or just. Really special.

The fact of the matter was, everything he was doing previously was put on hold, at least until he figured out how to get out of this world. He hasn't seen anything like it, but being that he couldn't summon his keyblade and the fact that he couldn't sense any Unversed... it put him a little bit more at ease. To say all his fears were put to rest was inaccurate, Ven and Aqua were still in the Graveyard and he had to finish what he started, had to make things right. He had no doubt in either of their abilities, but he had promised he wouldn't turn against them again.

But aside from that, they've been staring at each other for what felt like a year and the creature still didn't move to attack him. That had to count for something, right? Clearing his throat, Terra pointed to himself.

"My name is Terra." The brown thing seemed excited, letting out a squeak in reply,

"Diglett!"

"... Diglett?"

"Diglett!"

He had a feeling he was going to be stuck here for a while. With a sigh, he glanced at the charm Aqua gave him, clutching it tightly.

"Ven, Aqua..." He closed his eyes tight, "Wait for me."
