Random larp mechanic rules I found in a random text file on my computer. Since it was last year, I don't remember why I wrote them down. Some of them are variations of things I've heard in panels, but the rest I think I came up with.
Narrative Rules:
1. You want players to generally succeed when attempting the tasks their characters are good at.
2. You want decisions to have interesting consequences.
3. Sometimes what happens should be surprising.
Flow Rules:
1. Mechanics need to be quick.
2. Mechanics should work for immersion, not against it.
3. Mechanics shouldn't break people out of character.
Balance Rules:
1. Not all mechanics fit all people, nor can all people be trusted with all mechanics.
2. If there is ever a question whether or not to do something, don't do it.
