I'm in Denton! No surprise there. I also have some news to post about along with some fun pictures from the trip so far. :3 The drive up was pretty interesting, to say the least...

So, yesterday we arrived and I had insomnia and watched Snakes on a Plane before finally passing out. xD But on the trip here, Daniel, our GPS (which didn't get stolen in ( Read more... )

Guess I spoke too soon about not having to live on campus. Sorry. It IS fairly standard policy for freshmen everywhere. And at Marshall it applies to sophomores as well unless you meet one of their magical exemptions. Don't sign a lease until you're absolutely sure that you can get out of this requirement. What will happen is that you (or your parents) will end up being required to pay both a housing fee and rent. You can't afford that and your parents will refuse to do it. (As well they should.) You might want to look into other exemptions, though. Did you take a bunch of AP classes so that technically you enter college as a sophomore? That's one way around it. Marriage is another, but I swear to you that if you choose this option right now I will officially disown you. How far is Lubbock from Denton? I'm entirely ignorant of TX geography. If it's within a certain distance, you may be able to tell the school that you're living at home and commuting as long as your parents will back you up. All of your school mail will ( ... )

Lubbock is six hours from Denton, so "commuting" from home is out. xD And we've resigned to live in the dorms. It's just such a pain in the ass. And the dorm "leases" are for the nine months of freshman year, and if you move between semesters, you get fined and still have to pay for the rest of the year, basically, so it's really, really out of the question. : / Ah, well.

I'm so sick of people telling me to suck it up, though! Haha. I'm trying -on my own- to find a way to avoid dorm life. I'm not asking for assistance from my parents, and in fact, the boys aren't helping much, either. xD So, I'm basically doing this on my own without any fruition, and I'm tired of people's reassurance being "oh well, suck it up!". I'm prepared to do so, but I don't need to be told to do so. :P

(I'm not mad, just disappointed and irritated. I did a lot of work and research and it's all useless. ;_; *sigh*)
