i just happened to be outside leashing hershey up tot he front porch so she could watch the first snowfall of the season, and this van pulled up. this dud that looked like vitto from the sopranos sticks his head out, introduces himself as "louie" and says he used to live here and he's just showing his son where his dad was born. i said, "cool, c'

That's awesome when that sort of thing happens.

We've had that happen with some of the older houses my family has owned and found out a lot about the history of the houses.

Right after I moved into my last house, a couple came by the house and asked if they could look around because the guy said he'd grown up in the house. I let him around the property (not inside the house considering he was wicked sketchy) and he was thankful then he left. Then 2 weeks later another guy comes by and says he grew up there, too, and asked if he could look around inside. Again, I said no (he was twice as sketchy).

Thing is, they both claimed to have been raised there at the same time, and they weren't brothers.

A week later, I got up to the noise of JD going bonkers barking at the back window of my house. Shortly after that, the house next door was robbed.

The moral is: Don't be too quick to let sketchy people into your house under the pretense of "touring the old home". You could be their next victim. It's quite the scam when you think about it. My hat is off to them for inventive ways to case a house.

I hope Hershey is on guard!
