It hadn't been long since she'd left the Doctor. Had she fallen asleep? Was this some sort of dream?

Dream or not, she seems to be in some sort of place that... well... that rather seems to be made of candy. The 'grass,' such as it were is actually licorice (Charley took a sample, just to be sure). The trees are weighed down with brightly colored ( Read more... )

Charlotte is walking around with a basket in hand, filling it with freshly picked candy. She's run out at home, and so she decided to get some more. She notices Charley and goes over, eager to meet someone new.

"Hello! I don't think I ever met you before, I'm -- ah, hold on," she shuffles the basket on to her arm so she can extend a hand to the girl. "I'm Charlotte La Bouff, wonderful day out today, don't you think? I just had to come out, oh, here honey, want one of these suckers? I think these are watermelon flavored." She sticks one in her mouth and holds out another to Charley.

Well, this is confusing. More confusing, that is. Charley shakes the other girl's hand and accepts the sucker, staring at it, a bit dazed by the encounter.

"I'm Charlotte Pollard. And... I'm afraid I don't really know where I am. Can you tell me what this place is?"

"Ahh!" Lottie shrieks gleefully. "We've got the same name! Well, first name, anyway. Oh, and we even have sorta similar hair, 'cept mine's curlier. We're regular twins, ain't we?"

Oh, wait, somewhere in there was a question about where they are, wasn't there? "This is Candyland. No real substitute for New Orleans, where I'm from, but at least it ain't as hot, and it's nice to be able to pick your own sweets. Do miss my friend Tia's beignets though, she ain't here. But I can get similar ones back in New Orleans, we could head over there if you're hungry for real food, it's just a short walk away."

"Candyland? But that's... that's rather ridiculous, isn't it? A real place called Candyland?"

Charley's missed most of the rest of what Lottie has said in her astonishment.

"Wait. You're from New Orleans? But New Orleans is a real place. How can it possibly be walking distance from Candyland?"
