Looking for Fabric

Apr 12, 2007 18:15

I have a project for myself which requires a silk/linen blend. Does anyone out there in LJ land know of somewhere I can find such a material. So far it is proving rather difficult to find (even for RC...).

Time to make a business I guess. Then maybe we can write off the cost of building the sewing loft...

Ula's Mom: Brenna of Bsharp fabrics sold me some really beautiful linen/silk/cotton blend that I haven't had time to sew up yet. I have washed it and it was even better after washing.

good luck! It's kind of hell having her shop about a mile from home.

Thanks for the link, I'll have to check that out.

It might be hell, but it must be a nice type of hell.

The first thing that popped into my head was 'you left it in my bed, come find it' but I'm just being a smart-ass.

Thanks. Some of those will do for sure. Now we will just have to get Mona's dieing skills honed so I can get the brown I am looking for.

While we are shopping for fabric, what type of silk do you use for the partlets?? Or is it another type of fabric?? I am so out of my comfort zone on this project!! Hope you don't mind all the questions.

That really depends upon which partlet you are making. Do you have an image of what you are making?

RC's shear one was silk organza, but the one we lent you is linen.

I knew the one she lent me was linen, but the one that goes with the dress I'm making is supposed to be sheer. I suppose I'll have to adapt the pattern. Oh, the joys of being EP and making LP clothing! Hope you don't mind me picking your brain on this!

If it supposed to be shear you best bet would be the silk organza, that is was RC used for her shear partlet and is what the base for the netted one she is finishing for Gemma too. I have not read a lot about partlets - yet, but I believe that is the material they were made from.

I am just talking to her and she said that she chose organza because it looked right and draped right, where as the silk gauze she tried really didn't. So there you go.
