I feel it's incredibly difficult to make new friends as an adult. It seems to me most people reach a point of satisfaction with theirs lives in which they have no care to invite any new acquaintances into their established circle of friends.

This is an unfortunate truth with a lot of people. I'm not this way, because part of my personality enjoys meeting all kinds of new people. However, I am only close to a very select few. It doesn't mean I don't like new people, but I very much dislike allowing too many people into my personal business. I don't like the social-circle of support enough to deal with the sewing circle it really is.
