Okay, my last post was a failure, but that sets all my readers up pretty well for this journal entry, which is ABOUT failure... I guess this is old enough news (to me) now that it doesn't hurt quite as much, so I don't really see the harm in sharing it

Does this mean you won't be canvassing this summer?

I hope you don't worry too much about it. I know you'll find something good.

I probably won't.... At the moment, I don't really want to do anything, which worries me. I think I should at least WANT to do something....

when canvassing, use a general short and simple mental outline of what you wanna tell people, and maybe memorize a few key points/facts for persuasive effect.

but do not use a script. it will always just trip you up, especially when just starting out. Scripts are cannon fodder in terms of convincing people, it'll just sound rehearsed, so just free form it

They told us we weren't allowed to free form it, because the script they gave us to memorize 'was proven to be effective.'

The script was actually the part that I liked least about the job, but ironically the part I was best with. I have a good memory, I just didn't like the idea of using it in order to sound fake and obnoxious.
