I'm sure I went in with some stuff planned to get the PCs off Ariel tout de suite and off to one of the places where they could pick up actual plot.

So why, two hours in, was I running a scene in which the Ariel coastguard picked the All That Glitters's pilot up off her brand new and somewhat sinking fishing boat?

I try to avoid this kind of thing, but if we're swapping stories here I once ran 18 continuous hours of Call of Cthulhu on literally zero prep. (This was, admittedly, only possible because none of the four players had ever played before!)

I heard the PCs were waiting for some hospitalised person to recover?
